Rigathi Gachagua political career has been on upward trajectory since he was elected as Mathira member of parliament. In less than five years, he has ascended to hold the coveted position deputy president William Ruto running mate. If the DP wins the elections slated for August 9, Gachagua will wield considerable power and sway in the Mt Kenya region politics. The woman behind his success is Dorcas Rigathi, the potential Kenya second lady.

Career
Gachagua commented on how Kenya would be a prayerful nation once they assume the leadership of Kenya. This is because William Ruto’s wife, Rachel, has always been known as a woman of prayer. The same can be said for Dorcas who is a pastor. She heads a ministry back at her Mathira home.
Dorcas started making waves during Hon. Ruto’s forays in the Mount Kenya region. In early May, she preached in a Sunday Service attended by the deputy president. During the service, she did not fail to acknowledge her husband whom she described as a very wonderful man. She described him as a real helper who did chores around the house whenever the need arose.

Mrs. Rigathi added that the clergy will not keep silent during the elections. She declared that Ruto would become the president even as she promised the church will actively participate in the polls.
“The clergy represented here is a pool of untouched potential. These are men of substance and influence. In our engagement, we have agreed that we will no longer act safe, never be fence-sitters or say we are neutral,” she said.
Apart from her service to the church, she is also a partner in some of the family owned businesses. For instance, she is one of the directors of a family-owned consolidated company named Wamunyoro Investments Limited.
Family
Dorcas and Gachagua have two grown up children named Kevin and Keith. Their father has often flaunted them on social media and expressed pride over their successes. In 2019, Keith, the last born son graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and reportedly works at Mbagathi Hospital.

Philanthropy
Apart from preaching, she has dedicated her time to help widows in the community. According to media reports, she heads the Dorcas Rigathi Mercy Ministries which is a tool of help for the widows. For her work, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Breakthrough International Bible University.
