Marking Kenya’s first privately run special economic zone, this initiative is poised to transform the North Rift region into a major commercial and industrial hub.

The industrial park which is strategically located on a 700-acre site in the Plateau area, approximately 40 km from Eldoret town, aims to attract various industries, including agro-processing, energy, machinery, engineering, construction, electronics, ICT, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

The project is planned in three phases, with the first phase (AEZ Pearl River) already underway and being supervised by the Chinese firm Guangdong New South Group.

Upon completion, it is expected to create around 40,000 jobs during its operational phase.

However, the project has faced several challenges including lack of water supply, poor road connectivity and regulatory approvals that have led to delays.
