Faida Investment Bank: The Multi-Billion Bank Owned By Jubilee Politician Dennis Waweru

Faida Investment Bank is a Kenyan financial entity licenced by the Capital Markets Authority and regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya(CBK). The bank is owned by former Dagoretti South Member of Parliament Dennis Waweru.

Faida is among the leading investment banks in Kenya and is dedicated to providing their clients with opportunities to generate wealth.

The financial entity offers a number of services including market research, managed futures, and advisory, among others.

Faida Investment Bank Limited (“Faida”) was licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to operate as a stocks and securities broker in 1995. After a decade of steady rise in the finance industry, Faida was converted into a full-fledged Investment Bank in December 2007.

The financial services provider has an extensive retail franchise and distribution network in the country and has an associated company in Rwanda, Faida Securities Rwanda Ltd.

Faida Securities Rwanda (FSR) is broker number one at the Rwanda Stock Exchange. It was incorporated in 2007 and began operations in 2009. Faida Securities Rwanda was the first broker to sponsor an equity listing at the Rwanda Over the Counter Market (ROTCM), the cross-listing of Kenya Commercial Bank Group, in June 2009.

Since then, Faida has actively traded KCB shares on the ROTCM, sustaining market liquidity by ensuring constant supply of KCB shares in the market. Faida has also been active on the Rwanda corporate finance scene, having developed a pipeline of investment banking transactions.

Services

Brokerage – Faida buys and sells shares (stocks) of publicly quoted companies as well as fixed income securities on behalf of the investing public.

Market research and institutional research – The bank conducts fundamental research on quoted companies and uses established fundamental techniques to value and forecast future performance of such companies.

Managed futures – Faida offers its clients across East Africa the opportunity to invest in Managed Futures, a broad base of alternative investment strategies in which portfolio managers, known as Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs), use futures contracts as part of their investment strategy. This particular investment product is for sophisticated investors looking for alternative investments in order to diversify their portfolio of investments.

Advisory – Faida boasts extensive experience in the public and private sector, as well as transaction advisory skills and capital raising expertise. The company has the trust of investors – both local and foreign institutions, and high net worth individuals.

Dennis Waweru

Waweru is a Partner and Director of Faida Investment Bank. He holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Moi University and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the same institution. He has over twenty-two years of experience as an investment Banker.

He is currently the Chairman of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest). He served as the Member of Parliament for Dagoretti South Constituency at The National Assembly from April 2013 to August 2017.

The former MP boasts expertise in portfolio construction and management, business and strategic planning, transaction structuring, securities dealing, bond valuation and trading, sales and marketing strategy formulation.

As a professional investment banker Dennis has been instrumental in various industry developments and previously served as the Vice Chairman of the Kenya Association of Investment Banks and Stock Brokers (KASIB).

Waweru has played an important role in ensuring the implementation of various Exchange initiatives that have sustainably grown the Stock Market.
