Comedian Fred Omondi has been buried days after a tragic road accident claimed his life.

Fred was was laid to rest on Saturday, June 29 at his family home in Sega, Siaya County.

Notable personalities attended the burial including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Members of Parliament Babu Owino and Jalango, and musician Prince Indah among others.

The leaders were welcomed to the burial by Fred’s elder brother, comedian and activist Eric Omondi.

Raila while speaking during the burial, praised the late comedian saying he attended it as a grandfather.

“Our people, today we are mourning, today I came here as a grandfather. In the ideal scenario it should be I who should be dying but today we lay to rest a young man it is painful,” Raila said.

The former Prime Minister also lighted up the mood as sang to the crowd.

“During our days of the struggle with Jaramogi we sang like this “Nikiitwa ntaitika, nikiitwa ntaitika kutumikia waafrika, kutumikia kutumikia, kutumikia waafrika ooooh. Kwenye vita vya moto twapambana kama mashujaa,” Raila sang.

As the coffin was lowered to the grave, a heartbroken Eric Omondi was comforted by his wife Lynne Njihia and friends.
