The special tribute show by Churchill Show for the late Fred Omondi raised KSh 1.1 million for his burial expenses.

The event dubbed Fred Omondi’s Last Laugh, had hundreds of comedy fans turning up to honor him.

The event was held at Carnivore in Nairobi.

According to Milly Chebby, the event target was to raise KSh 600k but the amount was surpassed.

Chebby was speaking during Fred’s memorial held at Chiromo Chapel on Friday, June 28.

‘When you couldn’t speak, your tears have spoken for you. May God bless every one of you who showed up at Carnivore to do the; Fred Omondi’s last laugh. Our target was KSh 600k but raised KSh 1.1 Million shillings.” Chebby said.

During the memorial, Eric Omondi thanked Terence Creative and his wife Milly for their support.

“I really want to say thank you to KBC, Wafula Bob, Gladys…Kupa John asanteni. Chebby, Chebby, Chebby… and Terrence and Jalango, and Churchill but most especially thank you, truly, thank you so much to Milly Chebby and Terrence. I genuinely don’t know what I would have done without them. May God bless you abundantly.’ Eric said.

The big comedy names who performed at the last laugh tribute event were Lang’ata MP Jalang’o, Terence Creative, Mammito, Teacher Wanjiku and Butita among many others.

Tickets for the show went for KSh 1000.

The much-loved comedian died on Saturday morning, June 15.

Police said the accident happened after a bodaboda carrying Omondi was involved in an accident.

The motorcycle was hit by a speeding bus forcing the rider and his pillion passenger to land on the tarmac.

Omondi was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where he was pronounced dead while being attended to, a police officer said.
