Safaricom and Kenya Power reached a collaboration agreement to allow its customers to sort electricity bills using Bonga Points.
The service is available to both prepaid and postpaid subscribers.
According to Safaricom, the project would allow consumers to redeem their Bonga Points for tokens or monthly bills at a rate of Ksh 20 cents per point.
This means that if you have 5,000 Bonga points, you can purchase 1,000 tokens, equivalent to 60-65 token units.
To find out how many points are required to pay their bill, dial *126#, choose Lipa Na Bonga, and then Bonga Calculator.
The consumer will be asked to enter the amount they wish to pay, and they will receive a response indicating the number of points required to pay the bill.
How to buy tokens using Bonga points
In order to buy KPLC tokens using Safaricom Bonga points, follow the steps below;
Step 1: Dial *126# on your Safaricom line
Step 2: Choose Lipa na Bonga Points
Step 3: Enter the KPLC paybill number 888880
Step 4: Enter your KPLC meter number
Step 5: Enter the amount equivalent to the Bonga Points you want to redeem. You can enter a random figure like 100, 300, 500, etcetera, to see how much you qualify for
Step 6: Confirm the transaction, enter your MPESA pin and wait for the 20-digit KPLC tokens.
