Inside The Illustrious Careers Of Kalonzo’s Children

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is a politician who has over the years gradually scaled the political ladder in Kenya. Even though critics have christened him ‘watermelon’ due to what they term as a fluid political stand, Kalonzo remains one of the forces to reckon with especially in Ukambani region where he remains the undisputed kingpin.

Besides politics, Kalonzo is a family man married to Pauline Musyoka. The two met in the ’70s during a christian union event when they were still in high school. As fate would have it, they went on to establish a blossoming relationship and got married in 1985.

Because a man’s success is generally judged by how much he moulds his children, Kalonzo has offered the best education for his four children. As such, all of them are professions in various fields ranging from law, media, music and finance as this article will reveal.

Kennedy Musyoka – EALA MP

The first born, Kennedy Musyoka is a Member of Parliament at the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA). Prior to this, he avoided the limelight until when he was nominated by the Wiper Party shortly after the 2017 general elections.

Even though the matter led to a public furore with many castigating Kalonzo Musyoka of nepotism, his son thinks he deserved the slot. According to him, he had worked hard in making his contributions for the Wiper Party. The first born also details that it was not a walk in the park to convince newly elected MPs to back him given the frosty relationship between the Jubilee party and the now defunct NASA coalition.

Initially, he contemplated the idea of joining Kenyan politics with a pinch of salt due to the rabble rousing that is associated with it.

Kennedy did his ‘O’ levels at the prestigious Brookhouse then pursued an undergraduate degree in International Relations in Australia before taking a law degree at the University of Nairobi.

At EALA, the 35 year old is the youngest parliamentarian and serves as the chair of the accounts committee. Aside from his busy schedule, he is also a businessman and farmer.

Kevin Muasya

Kevin Muasya is the second born in the family. He studied at Makini Academy then proceeded to Sunshine Secondary School. To his name is a colourful curriculum vitae as he studied a Bachelor’s in Business and Commerce at Monash University in Australia. He went on to pursue a Masters in International Business at the same institution.

Muasya has previously worked as a credit analyst and customer service officer at Cooperative Bank. Additionally, he has served as a director of the Tourism Regulatory Authority. He is also associated with a vernacular radio station by the name Athiani FM.

Politics

In the recent past, Muasya has made his interest in joining politics known and has been fronted as a gubernatorial running mate to Kitui Governor hopeful Kiema Kilonzo. During his first political rally, he landed in a chopper and spoke the local dialect fluently, much to the amusement of the crowd.

However, his bid suffered a huge blow over his father’s preference of former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe who has the blessings of the Wiper Party.

As prolific writer Margaret said: a home without a daughter is like a spring without a source, being the only daughter, Damaris gives the Musyoka the perfect completion. She pursued a Bachelor’s of Laws degree at Leeds University then went on to take a Masters in International Human Rights at the same institution. Various sources indicate that she works at the Central Bank of Kenya.

Klein Kalonzo

He is the last born in the family and pursued journalism at the University of Nairobi. He has chosen a rather different career and is a musician and rapper with the name K-Deuce. Klein also owns a recording studio called Hearts Beats. He has worked alongside a renowned producer who once partnered with music group Camp Mulla. However, in this industry where the competition is cutthroat, he is yet to make a big name.
