However, the challenge for most of these creatives has always been how to remain financially stable when the fame has faded. In recent years we’ve witnessed some of these artists venturing into the business space to try and use their influence to generate income.

In this article, WoK takes a look at some of the businesses owned by funnyman Kennedy Odhiambo, popularly known as Crazy Kennar.

KAZI App

Crazy Kennar has been on the forefront of fighting depression among young people and he is doing this by creating job opportunities. On November 19th 2021, the comedian launched Kazi app – an online application that aims at solving the rampant problem of unemployment among the youth by connecting them to various opportunities since joblessness is what drives most people to depression. The application process for the app is free and every non-employed or self-employed individual would be able to generate income through various skills.

“When God gives you a plate of food, invite others to eat with you. I have been on a mission to fight depression for close to 3 years now. This is after I received heart breaking messages from my fans and the people I entertain. What better way than introducing an app called ‘KAZI’ that is able to cut across so many people who have different skills and give each person an opportunity to earn something by using what is in their hands to make revenue. Our main initiative focuses on the youth because most of them tend to fall into depression as a result of not being able to cater for their needs,” the comedian wrote on his instagram account as he launched the app to the public.

He went on to explain that the application works to connect a person who needs a service and a person who offers it. The app is a good platform for freelancers such as writers, videographers, photographers, beauticians, plumbers among many others skills and careers.
