Jakes Nyanjom, son of the former radio presenter Joyce Gituro, has been promoted at Homeboyz Radio.

The 19-year-old journalist will host the Drive Show at the radio station, replacing Kerry Martin.

Nyanjom joined the station one year ago and was promoted due to his excellent performance and commitment.

Nyanjom will host the show alongside presenter Lotan.

The young presenter has been hosting the late-night show on Homeboyz which runs from Midnight to 5 AM.

Nyanjom who is a student at Daystar University, is popular on social media for his skits with his mother Joyce Gituro.

His social media videos have won him a big fanbase with many saying he has inherited his mum’s vibrant media bug.

Nyanjom is also a social media marketer, photographer and voice-over artist.

He started his media career as a social media intern at Kiss FM and Classic FM.

Joyce Gituro started her career at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation before moving to the Royal Media Services-owned station Radio Citizen in 2004.

She worked her way to the top and was promoted in 2011 to overall head of radio. Because of this responsibility, she only got to host one show, which she did not want as she was not saved.

The talented broadcaster soon secured a job at Milele FM as the head of radio and the host of the Sunday morning gospel show.

While she was charged with managing six stations, the environment at Media Max did not offer her a chance to grow.

But it’s the content she creates with her son Jakes Nyanjom that has given Joyce Gituro an enviable following. The chemistry between the two is undeniable.

Their videos on TikTok and other social media platforms are entertaining and portray a mother-son relationship.
