Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour popularly known as Jalang’o has visited the mother of a young man allegedly shot dead by a police officer.
Jalang’o and his team met the heartbroken mother and the funeral committee on Monday, June 24.
The MP gave her his support and promised to support the family further after the burial.
According to Jalang’o, Rex was a resident of Lang’ata and lived in Highrise ward.
“Today we met with Mama Rex and the funeral committee for the final plans for the late Rex’s burial, we shared our support and promised the family further support even after the burial, Rex lived in Langata constituency Highrise ward,” Jalang’o said.
Apart from Jalang’o other politicians who have consoled and given their support to Rex’s mother including opposition leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Babu Owino.
On Sunday, June 23, nominated Senator Karen Nyamu sent KSh 50k and called the mother to comfort her.
Nyamu also donated foodstuffs and promised to support her further in the future.
Rex Masai was shot and killed during the Occupy Parliament protests on Thursday, June 20.
The autopsy, conducted by a family pathologist and his government counterpart at City Mortuary indicated that Rex died from excessive bleeding.
He also had muscle fractures caused by a gunshot wound on his left thigh.
According to the report, the bullet entered from the back.
The death of Rex Masai has angered Kenyans who are now demanding justice and the arrest of the alleged police officer who shot him.
