James Nyamongo was confirmed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Nairobi Hospital in June 2020. The seasoned professional had been appointed CEO in an acting capacity in December 2020.
“His focus going forward is to implement the hospital’s strategic plan 2019-2024 to transform the hospital into a premier health Care facility in Eastern and Central Africa,” said the board chairman.
Founded on 9th of April 1954, Nairobi Hospital is an executive private health facility offering extensive healthcare services for all. The hospital is renowned across East Africa as an excellent referral, diagnostic and treatment center. For over 6 decades the hospital continues to serve both Kenyans and non Kenyans by offering the best possible services, therefore, it requires a very dedicated and experienced person at the helm.
Career
With an illustrious career spanning close to three decades, James Nyamongo is obviously the right person to run the hospital. On 16th June, he was confirmed the CEO of Nairobi hospital, a position he had been holding on an acting capacity from early December 2020 when the former CEO Allan Pamba was sacked. Allan Pamba had obtained a court order which blocked the assumption of office of the new CEO until his case was heard and determined.
His track record in addition to the fact that he had already accomplished much in the short time he has been acting CEO prompted his confirmation.
Prior to joining Nairobi Hospital, he worked at Kenya Pipeline company (KPC).
Before his stint with Kenya Pipeline company, he had worked at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya, Christian Health Association of Kenya, Friends Hospital- Kaimosi and the Ministry of Cooperative development.
According to Maj. Rtd. Ndirangu (board chairman), Nyamongo had demonstrated his acumen in driving business change, providing organizational leadership and embracing teamwork in all the positions he has previously held.
Mr. Nyamongo has also consulted for the international finance corporation, East Africa Development Bank and the African Development Bank.
Education
James Nyamongo holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and Public Policy from the University of Strathclyde (Strathclyde Business School) in Scotland (UK), a Master’s degree in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee (Centre for Energy) petroleum and mineral law, and policy (CEPMLP) in Scotland, and a Bachelor in business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from United States International University (USIU), Nairobi- Kenya.
