Jared Nevaton Ombong’i is a flamboyant businessman who burst into fame when he married Citizen TV news anchor Lilian Muli. His relationship with the news anchor has been characterized with controversy before it eventually collapsed. Here is the Jared Nevaton biography as told by WoK writer.
Age
Nevaton is 48 years old as of 2021.
Education
He was a student at the Kenya Polytechnic but it remains unclear if he graduated from the institution. Jared moved to the US after receiving a student visa to attend Cochise College in Arizona. He was to attend a college in Arizona for a semester before dropping out.
Family
The controversial businessman has an interesting past. In an asylum application by Ombongi to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in 1994, he stated that his family had been displaced during the 1993 ethnic clashes and were living in a refugee camp. He went on to say that he had lost contact with them. Prior to moving to the US, Nevaton was housed by his brother in Narok where he worked as a magistrate.
The businessman claimed that he was a member of Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD), an opposition political party that was at the time associated with the late Simeon Nyachae. The Shabana FC chairman alleged that he was harassed and interrogated by police because of his role at FORD.
According to court documents, Nevaton claimed that his brother had been harassed, questioned by government agents and robbed after he left the country. He said that he had not been in contact with his family since 1995.

Career
Nevaton is the chairman at Shabana Football Club, a Kenyan Premier League (FKF) football club based in Kisii County. The club was founded in 1982 by an entrepreneur named Dogo Khan. The Crashers, as they are nicknamed, are the third-most-popular club in the country after Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. Jared Nevaton serves as the club’s chairman steering strategic decisions and means to improve club performance, popularity, and general wellbeing.
Apart from his role at the club, not much is known about any other businesses or jobs that Nevaton could be affiliated with.
Family
The Shabana FC Chairman is a father. During his marriage to Lilian Muli, the couple sired a son named Liam Francis. After the drama and resultant fallout between the two, they resorted to co-parenting which is now working well for the two. Jared was Lilian Muli’s second husband after Moses Kanene, who also had a child with the news anchor. Co-parenting is a concept that has had to be embraced in many contemporary families given the unfortunate high rates of divorce and separation.
Controversies
Nevaton was named ‘Community Husband’ by Lilian Muli after she discovered that he had been married to not one, but three other women. Jared had married three American women as a means of obtaining a visa which would subsequently assure him of permanent residence in the States.
This realization broke Lilian’s heart who took to her social media advising her followers to stay away from narcissists and calling on men to be truthful with their women. The nasty breakup in December 2018 was widely publicized online but after a few months, the two reconciled before calling it quits once again. Two years after the breakup, the two were seen in a social media post by Lilian on 12th December sharing what seemed to be a cozy moment with the news anchor laying her head on his chest. The video was captioned ‘Happy Birthday’ and has left netizens wondering whether it’s a sign of them getting back together.
In 2019, Lilian Muli bashed her baby daddy calling him a community husband and ‘Sociopaths’.
Her post read:
“I’m officially single and will now focus on raising my boys. As public figures we meet all sorts of people and most just want trophies whether you are well known or not be very careful who you allow into your life don’t go giving your heart to everyone.
“Sociopaths will keep you entangled in their web of lies and you will be one of their many victims. When you actually believe someone is true to you only to find out they are community husbands you are safer stepping aside.
Her long post went on to read:
“Nobody should ever tag me in posts about Jared Ombongi who has previously been associated with me I disassociate myself from such links from today. As politicians say “I would rather die” than be linked to a polygamist! Narcissism is real. Stay woke.
“I speak out because no one will ever embarrass me again. People ask why put your stuff out there? Well it’s because next time you see Mr Community husband don’t go saying that’s Lillian’s man.
“I am actually very blessed I have two wonderful men in my life Joshua Munene and Liam Francis and that’s all I need,” she shared on social media .
Three Wives
Long before marrying Lilian Muli, his baby daddy was in other marriages while he was in the US. He married Heather Mae Rice in 1993 and a year later got into another marriage to Layle Marie Kobow while still married to Rice. It was Kobow who had filed a visa petition on behalf of Ombongi after he promised her monetary rewards.
