Josh Ruxin: The Serial Entrepreneur Who Co-founded Of GoodLife Pharmacy

Goodlife Pharmacy is a leading pharmaceutical chain in the East African region with a total of 96 stores in Kenya and Uganda. The thriving business was co-founded by Dr Josh Ruxin in 2013.

Goodlife Pharmacy

This is one of the fastest growing healthcare pharmaceutical chain in the region. The pharmacy currently reaches up to over 1.2 million customers and plans are underway to increase the branches to 250 with the aim of serving 5.5 million consumers by 2025. The company has employed over 400 trained staff working in different departments including finance, pharmacy, administration, procurement and human resource.

Services and Branches

Goodlife Pharmacy offers over 9,000 different products in the health and beauty sectors. Some of the healthcare services offered include Body mass index, blood glucose and cholesterol testing, vaccinations, family nutrition, laboratory services, skin care consultations, nutritional consultation, optical services and doctor consultation.

Some of the popular branches are located at Greenspan Mall, Naivas Donholm, Total Ngong Road, Westlands Arcade, Junction Mall, Rubis Langata road, City Square, Shell Madaraka, Kenyatta Avenue and Tuskys Embakasi.

History and Ownership

Goodlife was co-founded by Dr. Josh Ruxin in 2013 and funded by Leapfrog Investments with the vision of being the first-choice healthcare and wellness provider in Eastern Africa. A year later in 2014, Ruxin through his other company named Africa Chemist and Beauty Care (ACBC) in partnership with private Equity Firm, Catalyst, acquired Mimosa Pharmacy and added its portfolio to 96 branches.

ACBC is an investment vehicle in the beauty and health care industry owned by Josh Ruxin and his colleague David Zapol. Mimosa pharmacy which was founded by Chris Getonga was doing quite well at the time with 6 branches located at Junction mall, Crossroads mall – Karen, Ridgeways mall, Oasis Mall – Malindi and WPS Building – Watamu. Goodlife is endorsed by The Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya.

Dr. Josh Ruxin

Dr. Josh Ruxin is an American writer and businessman with investments across Africa. He serves  Executive Chairman of Goodlife Pharmacy. The 52 year old is the founder of Rwandan Health Builders and owner of Heaven Restaurant and Boutique hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.
