Josphat Mose: Class Six Dropout Who Defied Odds To Become CEO Of One Of Kenya’s Leading Security Companies

In a world often defined by barriers and limitations, Josphat Mose defied the odds, rising from a Class 6 dropout to become the founder and CEO of Josngare Security Services.

Mose’s early life was marred by adversity.

Born into circumstances that would have deterred many, he faced challenges that would have crushed the faint-hearted.

His mother, who died in 2004, rendered her incapable of providing the care he needed, leaving his brother’s wife and sister to step in as his maternal figures.

The narrative could have ended there, with Mose merely being a statistic of unfortunate circumstances.

However, fate had different plans.

In 2004, Mose’s trajectory took an unexpected turn when he found himself in an orphanage in Nakuru.

This pivot point, although marked by change and uncertainty, ultimately laid the foundation for the remarkable story that would unfold.

Three years later, his uncle intervened, bringing him to Nairobi and enrolling him in Kayole One Primary School.

The challenges persisted. Under the roof of his uncle’s grandmother, he faced harsh treatment that led him to seek refuge with his sister.

But the silver lining was always present in Mose’s outlook.

In 2014, his uncle’s intervention once again played a pivotal role, securing him a job as a security guard.

Despite the inherent challenges of the role, Mose embraced it wholeheartedly, and for four years, he dedicated himself to the profession.

When his contract expired in August 2018, Mose’s spirit remained unshaken.

Undeterred by uncertainty and bolstered by an unyielding belief in his capabilities, he set out on an audacious mission – to establish his own security services company.

Armed with determination, a vision, and an unshakable work ethic, he embarked on this path, initially starting with just two guards: one for the night shift and another for the day.

Mose’s role transcended that of a CEO; he was a hands-on participant, donning the mantle of a guard himself while tirelessly marketing his fledgling company during the day.

The picture that emerges is one of relentless drive, where the boundary between leadership and frontline work blurred in the pursuit of a dream. The seeds he sowed through his hard work and determination began to bear fruit.

Josngare Security Services has grown into a substantial enterprise, employing approximately 110 staff members.

The individual who had only completed sixth grade is resolute in his belief that diligent effort is the exclusive key to achieving wealth.

Following the fortunate turn of events, he opted not to pursue further education, instead immersing himself in mentorship initiatives that centered on business-related subjects.

“One should hold the conviction that success can be attained even in the absence of formal education. Identify your strengths and skills. I never confined myself to a permanent role as a guard,” Josphat Mose imparted as guidance.
