June Moi: Former President’s Daughter Concentrated on Business, Lived Quiet Life

June Chebet Moi, the daughter of former Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi died on Thursday, April 11.

June Moi was the youngest daughter and according to the family had breathing issues before her death.

In a statement seen by Wok, the family requested privacy as they mourned the loss.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on of our beloved, June Chebet Moi this morning. At this time of grief, we request for your prayers and privacy as we the family come to terms with the tragic loss of our sister. May her soul rest in eternal peace.” the statement read.

The 60-year-old had lived a quiet life away from the public spotlight.

She concentrated on business and managing her land and properties. Just like her brother Gideon, she was the late president’s favourite child.

She attended Nairobi Primary School, and Kenya High School and went to Canada for her university education.

According to sources, she has managed to be a successful businesswoman also running a property agency.

June Moi also helped her father’s 1992 and 1997 political campaigns.

Former President Daniel arap Moi had eight children, including a set of twins.

According to his Will Moi left a 931-hectare parcel of land to be distributed among his five sons; Jonathan Kipkemboi Moi, Gideon Moi, Raymond Moi, Philip Moi and John Mark Moi.

In the Will, Moi gave Ksh100 million to each of his three daughters; Jenifer Chemutai Moi, June Chebet Moi and Doris Chekorir Moi.
