Lake Bogoria Spa Resort: Inside The Luxurious Hotel Owned By The Moi Family

Lake Bogoria Spa Resort is a high-end hotel that exudes elegance and luxury. It is sits on the floor of the Rift Valley in Baringo County. The facility is owned by the family of Kenya’s second president, the late Daniel Moi. According to Google ratings, Lake Bogoria Spa Resort is rated 4.4 stars after approximately 1100 reviews. It is a sister hotel of Rift Valley Hills Resort which is located in Kabarnet town.

Location

The hotel is located a short distance from Lake Bogoria. The nearest town is Marigat which is about 20 kilometres away. From Nairobi, one would have to drive to Nakuru then take the Kabarak road that leads to Marigat. The facility is approximately 260 kilometres from the capital.

Unique Features

The resort boasts of having the only naturally heated swimming pool in Kenya. This is the reason why the luxurious hotel is also referred to as the  ‘healing place’ as it is thought the water offers some therapeutic benefits. The proximate Lake Bogoria also provides an opportunity for visitors to engage in a number of activities such as boat riding and exploration of the gushing hot springs and geysers. Even though climate change has greatly reduced the number of flamingos, these magnificent birds paint the shores of the lake pink. Apart from the aquatic flamingos, Lake Bogoria is home to at least 300 other species of birds.

Because the hotel sits on an expansive 115 acres of land, it grows its own vegetables and fruits. The signature dish is the tasty juicy goat that is prepared by expert chefs of the facility. A variety of local and contemporary cuisines are also available on the menu.

Fun activities

Visitors engage in a number of leisure activities such as swimming, nature trails, water sports, darts and snooker. On 1st October, 2022, the resort hosted the much publicised ‘smokin country music’ that was graced by Jeff Koinange and Sir Elvis.
