Airtel Kenya is a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel Limited – an Indian multinational telecommunications services company with its headquarters in New Delhi, India. The company is the second largest telcos in Kenya after Safaricom PLC.

Louis Onyango Otieno Background
Louis Otieno attended Pace University in 1985 before joining Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York where he graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) – Honors, Computer Science. He then acquired his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1997 from the prestigious Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York.
Career Journey
He began his career in New York in January 1988 working at EEC Financial Services, Inc as the Vice President for Information Systems. He joined Microsoft Corporation in 1997 where he worked for 21 years. He held different positions at the firm including General Manager for East and Southern Africa from May 1997 to June 2012 and as Director of Corporate Affairs up to December 2018 when he finally left the company. He was also a founder Director of Microsoft 4Afrika – a strategic initiative aimed at helping Africa accelerate its economic growth & global competitiveness. In January 2017 he was appointed as a non-Executive Director at Nation Media Group and a year later he joined Absa Bank Kenya in the same position. In October 2019, he was appointed Chairman of the Board at Sera Afrika and a year later he joined Absa Asset Management Kenya in the same position.
Joining Airtel Kenya
On 3rd July 2022, Airtel Kenya announced that it had appointed Mr. Louis Onyango Otieno and Mr. Ashish Malhotra as Chairman of the board and Managing Director respectively. The duo were settled on due to their wealth of experience in the corporate world and will be responsible for steering the company to its next phase of growth.
