His name will forever be etched in the history of great men in Kenya. Mambo Mbotela is a man who revolutionised radio as we know it.
His raspy voice, coupled with his grasp of the rich Kenyan history has made him a darling of many even in retirement.
Interestingly, very little is known about his family. Here is what WoK has gathered about his wife.
Mambo Mbotela wife, Alice Mwikali
The celebrated radio presenter met his wife in 1970. Speaking to the media in 2018, he said their love brewed in the radio station. Alice was a fan of Mbotela’s programs on radio and paid him a visit at the broadcasting house.
“She was a great fan of my programs, so she came to Broadcasting House to see what I looked like. She was so cute I fell in love with her”, he told the Standard.
“I took her round the studios, we had tea, and she sat through one of the shows I was doing. You can be assured I was on my A-game that day when presenting the show,” the radio presenter added.
Why their relationship has lasted
He only had good things to say about his wife. According to the media personality, their marriage had been great.
“Ours has been a great marriage so far. It has stayed strong because we have involved God in it, and even when I married my wife she had good character”, he shared.
The couple is blessed with three children. Their daughter is name Aida, and their sons are named Jimmy and George.
Mambo Mbotela Living alone
The late radio presenter lived in Langata. As of 2018, he was running a shop to keep himself occupied and also playing at a local club. Asked where is wife, answered,
“She lives in our rural home. She loves the peace and quiet there,” he said at the time.
