Mwenda Thuranira, an accomplished businessman and real estate guru in Kenya, has yet again hit a significant milestone with his company, MySpace Properties.

He recently celebrated the success of his new concept, “Strip Malls,” which has garnered a positive response from Kenyans.

The introduction of the strip mall concept by the MySpace Properties CEO has been widely praised by the Kenyan business community.

His company has become renowned for giving Kenyans the opportunity to become homeowners and business owners.

Strip malls are characterized by a row of shops connected by a common walkway or sidewalk. They are typically located in urban and suburban areas near major roads or highways for easy accessibility.

These malls are designed to serve the local population and feature a mix of retail stores, restaurants, and service providers like salons and pharmacies.

According to Mwenda, strip malls offer a unique and unforgettable experience to customers, making them superior to traditional malls.

He cited the example of Danka Plaza, a new development in Kitengela, which promises a vibrant and memorable experience for visitors of all ages and genders.

These malls provide convenient retail and leisure experiences, catering to all the needs of visitors, including work, shopping, entertainment, and enjoyment.

A Landmark Development Shaping Kisii Town’s Future

One notable accomplishment was the swift sale of all the vacant spaces (retailers) in the soon-to-be-completed My Town Strip Mall in Kisii Town, formerly known as Kisii Resort.

Mwenda announced the mall’s tenants, including Naivas Grocery Store, KFC, Galito’s Kenya, Shell, and other major international brands.

Notably, this development is taking place. Under the new leadership of Governor Simba Arati, the area has witnessed a notable increase in investments and the establishment of an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

According to the Daily Nation, the mall is “the very first in the entire South Nyanza region”.

The mall will have a total of 30 shops and is big enough to accomodate about 100 vehicles.

It is worth mentioning that Kisii serves as the capital of Kisii County, which recorded a population of 1,266,860 individuals according to the 2019 Kenya National Census.

Journey to Success

Thuranira’s journey to success in the real estate industry is an inspiring one. He recalls his childhood dream of owning a beach house during family trips to Mombasa.

Determined to turn his dream into reality, he ventured into the real estate business upon his return from the United States, where he had gone to study at The University of Dallas.

Despite facing challenges during the 2008 financial crisis, Thuranira remained resilient and established MySpace Properties, which has since become a household name in Kenya’s real estate sector.

Thuranira’s success has not only benefitted himself but also many others. Through MySpace Properties, he has assisted over 10 people in acquiring their own beach houses along the Kenyan coast.

His expertise and vision have not only increased the number of beach house owners but have also contributed to the growth of the real estate industry in the country. The company’s portfolio includes notable projects like the soon-to-be-launched mega mall in Kisii.

Expanding the Vision to Uganda

In a recent development, Mwenda Thuranira announced a groundbreaking deal in Uganda. Through MySpace Properties, he has entered into a partnership to introduce the My Strip Malls concept in the country.

This joint venture agreement, signed with Uganda’s NRM National Vice Chairman, Mike Mukula, will bring strip malls similar to the successful Mytown Mall Karen in Kampala and expand to other cities.

A Brighter Future For Kisii Town

The establishment of the mall is anticipated to generate job opportunities and drive progress within the region. Kisii town’s rapid expansion has led to a demand for additional housing and social facilities.
