Here is his story as told by WoK.

Menial jobs

He dropped out of school because he was from a poor family. Nuru started herding cattle and earned about Sh1,000 per month initially.

He quit the job after feeling it was too much work with very little pay. Later, he moved to Nairobi where he worked as a construction worker before becoming famous through his content and views.

Nuru Okanga KCPE exams results

The vocal aspiring MCA dropped out of school in grade 3. Recent, he sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education at Mumias Muslim Primary. He hopes that pursuing an education will help him in achieving his 2027 MCA seat aspirations.

“I am eyeing for Kholera county assembly seat in Matungu in 2027 and without a certificate I will miss it out, that is why I am here to attain my grades because for one to vie for an MCA seat, he must be cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and a KCPE certificate is a requirement needed,” he said.

With most candidates anticipating to receive their KCPE results on Thursday, 23rd November 2023, Nuru became a trending topic.

Some people alleged that he had scored 401 marks with 84 marks in Maths, 80 in English, 80 in Kiswahili, 75 in Science and 82 in Christian Religious Education.

However, according to a local blog, he clarified that he was yet to receive the results and the rumors were fake.

This is not the first time the government critic has been on the receiving end of fake news.

In the past, news circulated online that he had been admitted to the hospital and was struggling to raise the bill of about Sh6,000. This prompted Hon. Peter Salasya to look for him and clarify the rumors saying Okanga was okay.
