Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has promised to support a Mandazi seller in Mombasa who impressed him with her dedication and hard work.

Posting on his X platform, Gachagua said he noticed the woman while on his usual early morning walks, she was engrossed in baking mandazi and cheerfully serving it with tea to her customers, mostly hustlers walking to their places of work.

“She is Asha Sidi Chengo, whose focus is to fend for the family and secure the future of her children. Today, I reached out to her to understand her drive,” The DP said.

Gachagua hosted Mama Asha at his official residence in Mombasa and promised to help her expand the mandazi business.

The DP also vowed to educate her two teenage sons.

“The deep determination to live a dignified life and specifically offer her children quality education stood out in our conversation. It was, therefore, deserving to support Asha in expanding the hustle, besides Education for her two teenage sons,” Gachagua is quoted.

This is not the first time the deputy president has shown his philanthropic side, some months back he employed a young woman who had coined the famous Riggy G nickname for him.

Gachagua hired Ivy Chelimo to work in his communications department and as his stylist.

“There is a girl somewhere who decided she likes me, likes the way I talk, she likes that I am a truthful man that I say it as it is, and decided to come up with a name to make life easier for me and my fans and she came up with Riggy G,” he said.
