Safaricom To Launch Service That Will Allow SIM Cards to Remain Active For 2 Years With Single Top-Up

Giant telecommunications company, Safaricom, has announced the launch of a product that will allow customers to keep their SIM cards active for up to 2 years with a single top-up of airtime.

According to Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, the new product dubbed Daima seeks to address the issue of inactive SIM cards of people who have no access to their SIM cards for a long time.

Such people include those who may be traveling abroad for longer periods or those who are away for police or military training.

“We are yet again innovating around our customers’ needs by introducing solutions such as Daima that are modelled around the lifestyles of our customers,” Ndegwa said.

Daima will offer three packages starting from KSh 200 for 6 months, KSh 500 for 1 year and KSh 1,000 for 2 years.

Each package offers 20 minutes of calling time and 20 SMS across all networks every month.

Once the service is launched it can be accessed by dialing *100*4# and selecting the Daima option and through the MySafaricom App.
