Six KNH Employees In Court Over Theft Of KSh 4.6 Million Cancer Drugs

Six employees of the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) were arraigned in court over theft of cancer drugs estimated at KSh 4.68 million.

The Milimani Law Courts heard that the six – Maurine Adongo, Rose Jepkogei, Yvonne Muthoni, Emily Nyambura, Philip Odhiambo and Mary Mumo – committed the act between April 5, 2022 and May 24, 2022.

The six were attached to the KNH Prime Care Centre Pharmacy by the time the drugs went missing.

According to court documents, the six made away with Rituximab, Immunoglobulin, Herceptin, Bevacizumab, Tocilizumab and Insulin Aspart Protamine drugs.

Followt a complaint lodged by KNH through Winfred Wangari, the six were arrested and detained at Capitol Hill Police Station.

They were then arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts where they denied the charges and were granted KSh 500,000 cash bail or KSh 1 million bond each.

Chief Magistrate Wendy Michemi also directed their lawyer to file a formal application after they challenged the charge sheet.
