The Kenyan Tycoons Who Own Multi-Million Nightclubs In Nairobi

Nairobi city economic might has made it home to some of the best and most popular nightclubs in Kenya and the East African region.

Nightlife in the capital is crazy and during weekends, Kenyans flock to these clubs to enjoy themselves. Judging by the prices of alcohol in some of these joints and the number of people that frequent the establishments, it is without a doubt that the owners of these nightclubs reap big.

In this article, WoK takes a look at the Kenyan Tycoons behind popular nightclubs in Nairobi and its environs.

Allan Chesang – Club Blend

Businessman-cum-politician Allan Chesang has invested heavily in the nightclub business. He is the owner of Club Blend which has branches in different parts of Nairobi, Thika and Meru. He also owns the Craft Lounge situated in the leafy suburbs of Westlands and The Garage Club which is among the best nightclubs in Thika.

Apart from the nightclub business, he is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Transcentury Global Limited – a company that has interests in private and public equity, real estate and PPP Projects.

He recently announced his entry into politics and is eyeing the Trans Nzoia county Senate seat in the upcoming August 9, 2022, general elections.

Mwalimu Churchill – Pavillion XV

Daniel Ndambuki alias Mwalimu Churchill is a wealthy man thanks to his dominance in the country’s entertainment scene. He is the owner of Pavillion XV – a nightclub situated in Kitengela.

Pavilion XV has become popular amongst Nairobians who flock to premises on weekends. The club is popular for its electrifying events such as Amapiano Sundays, Thursday Reggae Therapy and Bashment Saturdays. It is also frequented by top guest DJs such as DJ Moh, DJ Kym Nickdee, DJ Creme de la Creme, among others. Top musicians such as Otile Brown, Nadia Mukami, khaligraph Jones, and influential comedians such as Eric Omondi, Jalango, and others have graced the club on several occasions.

 

Kelvin Shahban – Laviva Lounge

Nairobi businessman turned politician Kelvin Shahban is the owner of the popular Laviva Lounge. Located along the Thika superhighway, the club is popular amongst the middle class and working class individuals. The nightclub was established in 2018 and has become a fan favorite.

Shahban will be vying for the Roysambu constituency parliamentary seat in the oncoming August 9, General elections.

Caleb Amunga – Bahama Breeze

Nairobi businessman Caleb Amunga is the man behind the success of Bahama Breeze. Founded in 2016, the nightclub mainly targets people between the age brackets of 23 to 35. From its amazing ambiance, affordable drinks and electrifying music, this nightclub has grown to become one of the most popular entertainment joints amongst Nairobians.

Richard Ngatia – Galileo Lounge

City businessman-cum-politician Richard Ngatia is the founder and owner of Galileo lounge.’ Situated along Waiyaki way, the nightclub is one of the best partying joints in Nairobi. It is mostly frequented by the middle and working class Kenyans who don’t mind spending thousands of shillings on a single bottle of whiskey.

Apart from owning the nightclub, Ngatia owns a number of businesses in the hospitality and health sectors. He is also the President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce (KNCC).

Ngatia is eyeing the Nairobi County gubernatorial seat in the upcoming August 9, 2022 general elections under the Azimio La Umoja coalition.

Wilson Kanani – 1824 Whiskey Lounge

Businessman Wilson Kanani is the man behind the popular nightclub 1824 Whiskey Lounge. Located along Langata Road in Nairobi West, the nightclub mainly targets young people aged 18 to 24 years. Within a short period of time, the club has taken the city by storm with celebrities and public figures frequenting the premises.

On Sundays the club hosts a show popularly known as ’Sunday School’ which features some of the best DJs such as DJ Exclusive, DJ Shawn and DJ Payne.

KRG the Don – Casavera Lounge

Controversial Kenyan Dancehall musician KRG the don is the owner of the newly opened Casavera lounge. Located along Ngong road, the nightclub has become increasingly popular in Nairobi. During his tour of Kenya in 2021, Jamaican musician Konshens partied at the club.

During an exclusive interview with Youtuber and Content Creator Mungai Eve, KRG the Don revealed that it cost him Ksh200 million to buy the land and construct the fancy nightclub.

Barry Ndegeyingoma

The Rwandan businessman who is popularly known to his friends as ‘Ndegeye’ is arguably one of the wealthiest people in the country. The billionaire is the owner of the famous B-Club located in Kilimani, Nairobi.

The club shot to the limelight in January 2020 when Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino shot DJ Evolve at the popular upmarket nightclub.
