Top Private Hospitals in Kenya

Kenya has the best hospitals in East and Central Africa. These private hospitals offer quality but costly services, with the exception of mission hospitals that are affordable. The hospitals also accept insurance. 

Below is a list of a few popular private hospitals that offer quality services: 

The Nairobi West Hospital

The hospital was founded in the 1980s with the foundation of humanity first. The Nairobi West Hospital serves Kenyans as well as international patients. Their specialty includes: cancer care, orthopaedic, internal medicine, cardiology and urology. 

The Mediheal Group of Hospitals

This is one of the leading healthcare providers in East Africa. The hospital started more than a decade ago with just one hospital and has grown to a network of hospitals in Eldoret, Nairobi and Nakuru. 

Their wide range of ancillary services include:

  • A group of 10 tertiary centers (Nairobi, Eldoret, Nakuru and Kigali).

The Nairobi Women’s Hospital 

Founded in 2001 by Dr. Thenya, the hospital has served hundreds of thousands of people. At first, the hospital specialized in obstetrics and gynecological services but it has currently grown to encompass other services. They also run a non-profit charitable fund called the Gender Violence Recovery Center (GVRC). The center provides treatment and psychosocial support to survivors of gender based violence.

The Nairobi Hospital

Founded in 1954, the private hospital is located in Nairobi’s UpperHill area. Gertrude’s Children Hospital

St. Mary’s Mission Hospital

St Mary’s has two branches: one in Lang’ata, Nairobi and the other in Elementaita, Nakuru. The group of hospitals are owned and managed by the Assumption sisters of Nairobi congregation, ASN.
