Kenya has one of the most vibrant economy in the East African region. This, coupled with political stability, has seen big time investors pour their money in various multi-billion projects.

In this article WoK takes a look at Tune Hotel – the Ksh 2.9 billion hotel in Westlands owned by Malaysian tycoon Anthony Fernandes who also owns English Premier League Club Queens Park Rangers (QPR).

About The Hotel

Tunes Hotel is a luxurious state of the art hotel situated along 155 Rhapta Road in the posh suburbs of Westlands, Nairobi. The budget hotel targets short-stay clients and business travellers looking for a place to sleep without having to pay for any additional utilities.

“We often check into hotels when we travel and we really don’t get to use all the facilities a room or indeed a hotel can offer, like lounge chairs or baths, most times you’ll drop down to the restaurant to grab a meal and not even think about using room service. We don’t want to charge you for these amid other things you don’t use,” said Stuart Clay who is the General Manager of Tune Hotel Nairobi.

According to Businessdaily, the 11-storey, 280-room facility estimated cost was Sh2.9 billion. The budget hotel charges from Ksh 5,000 for its bed and breakfast options.

It has 280 rooms spread across 11 floors of the building with the option of twin, double and family rooms. It features standard design which means that it has no storage wardrobe but instead provide under-the-bed storage for luggage.

There a few hooks on the wall which act as hangers for hanging suits, the bathroom has no bathtub but a shower only and the tables can be folded to provide more space.

It also offers other additional services including a common ironing bay, free Wi-Fi and room air conditioning. The hotel was officially launched in 2016.
