Former Independent Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has recently been missing from the spotlight, with reports circulating about his hospitalization. The former electoral boss has played a significant role in Kenya’s political landscape, overseeing crucial elections and shaping the country’s democratic processes.
Despite Wafula Chebukati’s absence from the public eye, his children continue to thrive. While Jonathan keeps a low profile, Rachel and Emmanuel have made notable strides in their careers. From law to cloud security and data analytics, they have secured well-paying jobs that reflect their talents and achievements.
Rachel Chebukati
Rachel Chebukati is a Senior State Counsel working under the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice.
A certified professional mediator, she is a holder of a law degree from the University of Nairobi and another in International Relations from United States International University(USIU). She also has a Master’s in international Oil and Gas Law from the University of Dundee in the UK.
She began her career at the Attorney’s office in 2020, following experience at several law firms, including Sherman Nyongesa & Mutubia Advocates as an Associate Advocate, and Bowmans in the Dispute Resolution department. She also gained experience as an attachee at Simmons and Simmons in the UK and as a trainee advocate at Ransley, McVicker, and Shaw Advocates in Nairobi.
In June 2020, she started working as a State Counsel at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice before rising to Senior State Counsel a year later.
She provides legal counsel on commercial matters to government entities, specializing in international, petroleum, investment, human rights, and sports law. She also negotiates and reviews financing agreements, procurement contracts, and commercial deals.
Outside her legal work, Rachel serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Board of Trustees at Kenya’s Junior Golf Foundation (JGF).
Emmanuel Chebukati
Emmanuel Chebukati is a seasoned cloud security engineer with over nine years of experience in systems auditing, application security, and secure cloud deployment. He is the founder of Hepta Analytics , a data analytics firm launched in 2017 and is headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda, with an office in Nairobi, Kenya.
The company specializes in data science, transforming raw data into actionable insights for businesses, offering services such as big data analysis, software development, and infrastructure design.
Under his leadership, Hepta Analytics has developed products like HeptaPay, a bill payment application serving the East African region, and HR Analytics, a platform assisting HR professionals in visualizing staff metrics and predicting trends.
Emmanuel’s expertise is further validated by multiple certifications, including three Microsoft Azure certifications, two AWS certifications, and recognition as a Certified Ethical Hacker. He holds an Master’s degree in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Computer Technology from United States International University Africa.
In 2023, Carnegie Mellon University honored him with the “Tartan on the Rise” award for his significant contributions to the technology sector in East Africa.
Accompanying his son to receive the award, Chebukati noted his achievements, lauding him for his hard work, dedication, and significant contributions to the field of technology and innovation.
