Emmanuel Chebukati: Meet Wafula Chebukati’s Son Making Money Moves In Kenya And Rwanda

Emmanuel Chebukati is a cloud security engineer with over 7 years of experience in systems auditing, application security, and secure cloud deployment. He is a Co-Founder and Certified Cloud Security Engineer at Hepta Analytics and Heptapay.

Unknown to a majority of Kenyans, Emmanuel is the son of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Wanyonyi Chebukati.

He has delivered sensitive technology projects across the East African region and globally (remotely) in the public and private sectors.

His industry experience is backed by three Microsoft Azure certifications, he is an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, a Certified Ethical Hacker, and he holds an MSc in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon. He is currently working on scaling Hepta Analytics – a data analytics company he co-founded – in Kenya and Rwanda.

Background and Education

He is the son of IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati and his wife Mary, and has two siblings, Jonathan and Rachel.

In 2011, he enrolled back at IAT and attained a Certificate in Business Information Technology, with distinction honours.

Between 2012 and 2014, Emmanuel attended there United States International University (USIU) in Nairobi and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computer Technology. He joined Carnegie Mellon University in 2016 and graduated in 2018 with a Masters in Information Technology.

Career

Emmanuel boasts over seven years of experience working for various companies in the country and in East Africa. For three months between February 2015 and April 2015 he was a graduate management trainee at the Presidential Digital Talent Program.

From May to November the same year, he served as an Information Security Consultant at Shidolya Tours and Safaris, Tanzania.

Between May 2015 and July 2016, he served as a system developer at NatureSurf Systems Ltd.

He co-founded Hepta Analytics in 2017 and has served as the company’s Cloud Security Engineer since then to date. In 2020, he co-founded Heptapay.

Emmanuel co-founded Hepta analytics with colleagues from Carnegie Mellon University. It is incorporated in both Nairobi, Kenya and headquartered Kigali, Rwanda. The company specializes in various practice areas under data science to transform data into decisions that drive business growth.
