Background
Little Cribs Limited is a Nairobi based company that designs and makes kids furniture and accessories. The company operates a shop at Sarit Centre, first floor – new wing, opposite Shokupan restaurant. Among the products stocked include beds, study tables, pillows, mattresses, duvets and bedsheet.
You will also find toys, art, paintings and interior décor that can be used in children’s rooms. The company also does customized makeovers for children bedrooms and nursery according to the client’s preferences.
The Founders
The company was established by Mary Gatabaki and Teresa Gachie in November 2012. Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in design from the University of Nairobi. She began her career in 2007 working at Capital Colors as the Head of Department – Interiors and Exhibition. She joined Go Gaga Limited in June 2012 as the Chief Executive Designer.
In November 2012, she co-founded Little Cribs Limited and in July 2016 she became a Director at BrandM Studio Limited, a position she holds to date. Teresa Gachie on the other hand holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Textile Sciences and Engineering.
She began her career journey in June 2004 working as a sales agent for Ecolab before joining Sealed Ait Diversey Care in January 2008 as a customer care executive. In December 2010, she joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as an executive housekeeper before establishing Little Cribs Limited where she currently serves as Director.
Founding company
Their journey to establish Little Crib Limited began when they got their children and were eager to own safe and quality furniture for them but such was not available in the market at the time.
They identified the market gap and decided to start Little Cribs with the aim of producing exciting kid’s furniture.
During a past interview with Supamums.com, they revealed that they have a fourth silent partner who comes in when they need an objective view on an issue, especially on matters strategy.
“We understand that in as much as we are friends, we are also business partners and the lines are well defined. We all have roles in the company that are clear and we respect each other’s space. Self-discipline as well as –discipline has also played a huge role in making Little Cribs thrive. In case of a disagreement, the lead in the department has the last word on the way forward,” the trio told the publication.
