Departed media personality, Njambi Koikai’s father, Ambassador Daniel Koikai has died.

According to media reports, the old man died on Friday morning, June 14, under unclear circumstances.

While unverified reports shows that Daniel died by suicide, other reports showed that he was not among attendees of her daughter’s burial at Lang’ata Cemetery.

Njambi was buried on Friday in a ceremony attended by different celebrities and fans who knew her as an entertainer.

Sadly, Daniel’s death comes barely a day after he issued an apology for not being in Njambi’s life as a child while addressing mourners during her memorial.

When he was called upon to give his tributes, he used the opportunity to issue the apology and acknowledge his shortcomings as a parent.

He also noted how Njambi’s death has affected not only her close relatives but also people who knew her for her work in the media.

“Dear Njambi my daughter, the time has come for me to atone for my acts of omission or commission on your final journey from this world it has been one of the most difficult episodes in my life, especially for your close family members – your mother, sister aunts, uncles and colleagues in the media and friends in and out of the country,” he said.

Daniel was not present in Njambi’s formative years because he spent most of his time abroad where he worked.

“I will remember you in many ways and I ask here in public where I may not have fulfilled my duties as your Dad please forgive me, forgive me, and forgive me. And I pray that your soul will rest in Eternal Peace. Till we meet again bye-bye,” he concluded.

In an earler interview, Daniel reflected on moments he shared with Njambi, explaining that although they did not have the best relationship, they loved each other.

He also disclosed that he first met Njambi while she was in high school because he was working abroad by the time she was born.

“When times were good, we would go shopping and have lunch at some restaurants in the city, and you enjoyed meeting me very much. I deeply miss the good times we shared together

“During the bad times, we would go days or months without talking, something I blame myself for and will always regret as I’ve lost the chance to make things right with you,” Daniel said.

Daniel also mentioned that Njambi was happy to see him and her mother come together to support her at the time that she needed them the most.
