AKA Early Life
The award winning artist was born in Cape Town on 28 January 1988. He schooled at Holy Cross Convent in the Western Cape region before joining Greenside Primary School in Johannesburg. AKA was to later join St John’s College where he successfully completed his basic metric education. The group, Entity, was formed while AKA was still in high school.

The group-best remembered for ‘Touch N Go’ hit-fizzled out in 2006 after four years of working together. AKA was on a mission as he proceeded to co-found The I.V. League with Kamza and Buks a year later. He was on a roll with hit singles such as ‘Mistakes’, ‘Do It’ and ‘In My Walk’.

Going solo was the right choice as AKA went on to win back to back awards. In 2009, the artist won the Best Hip Hop”, and “Best Produced Album” at the Metro FM Music Awards in 2009 for his debut album “Altar Ego”. Two years later, AKA was receiving another award for the “Most Gifted Hip Hop Video” at the 7th Annual Channel O Music Video Awards. And it did not end there. He went on to be awarded the “Best Street Urban Music Album” at the 18th Annual South African Music Awards. In total, AKA had bagged two awards in 2011 alone. Then came ‘Levels’, his second album, that was certified platinum by South Africa Recording Industry.
