Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino is among the country’s most popular politicians. The youthful lawmaker is not new to controversies and has often made it to the headlines of local media for varied reasons.
However, what remains little known to members of the public is the MP’s family, and in this case, his wife Fridah Muthoni.
Babu has on a number of occasions shared images of his lovely family and in October 2021, the Embakasi East legislator interviewed his wife on his YouTube channel, introducing her to the world.

Background & Education
Fridah is 31 years old as of 2022.
She went to Lions Primary School in Embu where she performed excellently, scoring 443 marks out of the total 500 in KCPE. She then joined Loreto High School in Limuru where and scored an A minus in KCSE.
Thereafter, she proceeded to the University Of Nairobi where she attained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
She also did Certified Public Accounting alongside a course in Business Management while still at the university.
Career & Business
Fridah begun her career as an intern and was later employed at I&M Bank.
Due to her love for fashion, she decided to quit and ventured into entrepreneurship. She started her own fashion business.
“After employment, I decided to do the things that set my soul on fire. For me, that is fashion. I don’t take it for granted. To be able to have my business and do what I love every single day, is truly a blessing,” she said.
During the interview. she revealed that her fashion brand focuses on ladies’ clothing and accessories for empowered woman.
“If you look good, you feel good. It is more than a fashion brand. I want women to look good both in the inside and the outside. That is why I talk a lot about God, to inspire and motivate a generation of women,” she said.
Fridah noted that she does her best to live up to and exceed the expectations of those who look up to her.
Family
Babu and Fridah have been a couple for about 10 years and have two children together.
During the interview, Babu described Fridah as a loving woman to him and a responsible mother to their children. On the other hand, she described him as a coconut, soft for her on the inside.
“Babu you’re a good man, that is what I would say sums it all. You have a heart of gold and I was able to see that.”
Fridah noted that she has a clear understanding of her husband’s background coming from the slum, which has played a vital role in shaping his perceived nature and character.
“You are bound to pick up some things along the way that might shape a bit of who you are outwardly, but not change who you are at heart.”
