In Summary:

While Moi family’s Rift Valley Hills Resort offers the most delicious koriema, Chamastar Hotel is giving them a run for their money as it’s more affordable.

At the heart of Kabarnet, two facilities are splashing millions of shillings in a move to woo to outdo each other in the hospitality industry.

The two; Rift Valley Hills Resort and Chamastar Hotel are arguably the most luxurious facilities in town. Recently, this competition was captured by world renowned Youtuber, Kino Yves who had visited Rift Hills Resort but didn’t book a room, saying it was expensive.

Yves took umbrage over the fact that the Moi family owned resort had different charges for Kenyans and foreigners. He was to part with $64 (Ksh 10200) for a standard room.

Yves declined to even look at the room and decided to leave.

That’s too much for me. It’s way too much. So I don’t think it’s gonna be possible for me. It’s just too expensive,” he said.

He went to Chamastar Hotel where he paid Ksh 2500 for a standard room.

Chamastar Hotel is owned by Mary Keitany, a retired athlete who incepted the hotel together with her husband in 2021. The couple also owns Winstar Hotel in Eldoret.

Born in Kabarnet, Keitany doesn’t need an introduction as her decorated athletic career speaks for itself. She struck gold in the women’s marathon on seven occasions and is currently the world record holder.

Keitany trained alongside her husband, Charles Koech.
