Chiki Kuruka (real name- Chiki Omwukwe) came into the public limelight after being introduced as Bien Aimee’s girlfriend. Bien Barasa is a member of Sauti Sol– one of the biggest boy bands in East Africa. She is gorgeous, intelligent and loves to dance. She is a fitness instructor for one of the biggest shows in the country and has worked as a radio presenter.
She is a true example of a strong woman unafraid to voice her opinion and believes everyone should live their lives the way they please. She even admitted once that she would get a boob lift surgery. Of course, while thousands of women are doing different beauty surgical procedures on their bodies every other day, it still remains a taboo topic among some. Others would also not publicly admit they plan to have surgery or had surgery.
Background
The former Vybz radio presenter is the first born in a family of three children. She is half Nigerian half Swiss and was brought up in the United Kingdom. It was in the UK where she studied and also nurtured her love for dance. In her school, she worked hard and was a straight A student earning her a scholarship for her exemplary performance. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Maths and Psychology from the University College of London.
Career
Chiki is an experienced fitness instructor and a dance choreographer. She was also a fitness instructor who helped women lose weight in the then Citizen TV program Slim possible.

The fitness instructor was employed by Vybz radio, an opportunity that she was most grateful for since she loved music and had been in the dancehall industry for a long time. It was an opportunity for her to spread positivity, good vibes and good energy.
In 2020, she announced her exit from the station
“It’s with a heavy heart that I can now announce my decision to leave @vybzradioke. It was NOT an easy decision to make. In such a short period of time, I have fallen in love with the listeners and with the team. However, I am SO excited by what’s happening in the world now,” she said.
She said she would not be revealing her next step but she needed a break.
Marriage
The fitness instructor is married to Bien. The two met when Chiki was in Kenya for a temporary stay. They met in February 2019 at a Cinema Hall in Westgate and slowly began to date. Chiki did not know that Bien was a famous musician in the country at the time. The two got married in March 2020 at the attorney general’s office, just a week before the Covid-19 pandemic hit Kenya.
Controversy
The former Vybz radio presenter was drawn into the acrimonious soap like break-up between Makena Njeri and Michelle Ntalami. In a long post shared on social media platforms, Ntalami accused her ex-lover of engaging in clandestine relationships with multiple women. She stated that she had confirmed two individuals who had an affair with Makena behind her back.
“Those I suspected and confirmed are two individuals; one a public figure, and the other a less known married woman, a health worker. Eventually, these individuals undoubtedly confirmed the above. I attach screenshots and my responses simply to alleviate denial,” part of the post read.
Rumors started spreading fast that Chiki was one of two women mentioned on the post. She took to social media to clear her name, categorically stating that she is not involved with a non-binary person or a woman.
“Why did you break up with Michelle and Makena?”
Responding to the question posed by one of her fans, Chiki retorted,
“I would normally ignore this but I guess I have time right now. Let’s do this, let’s tag the people you are chatting about because as far as I’m aware, Michelle Ntalami has never mentioned my name in her messages. I have never had a relationship with either a non-binary person or a woman”
“Instead I have always given my support to a community that I greatly love and respect. But this implore is starting to irritate me, not because my in laws have to respond to this BS but because humans like you put allies off speaking up. I have always had nothing but respect for Michelle actually, but the fact that I’m involved in something that has nothing to do with me needs to end. If you are so concerned, I have tagged Michelle, don’t speculate, ask her your damn self if she was referring to me, then leave my page.”
To clear the name of Chiki from her earlier post, Ntalami stated:
“I want to be very clear and clear Chiki’s name from the two persons I alluded to in my open letter. Neither of them is her”, part of the post read.
