Kim Musau: Kenyan Who Drove From Kenya To Portugal In 6 Months

In an audacious and epic expedition that has captivated the world, Kenyan adventurer Kim Musau has redefined the limits of exploration.

Embarking on a solo journey from Nairobi to Portugal in under six months, Musau’s remarkable feat has left people in awe and inspired by his boundless determination.

With each step of his journey meticulously documented on his social media platforms, Musau has become a sensation, amassing a large following of avid supporters.

From the start, he faced grueling challenges, both physical and financial.

However, his unwavering spirit and insatiable thirst for discovery kept him going, earning him admiration from prominent figures like CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo.

“I ran into a Kenyan car in Portugal! Kim Musau has been on the road for six months. He left Nairobi and drove to Namibia, then along the coastline to Morocco, ferried to Spain and now he’s here. Are you not jealous?” Madowo said in a tweet.

Musau’s journey took him through diverse landscapes and cultures, showcasing the incredible diversity of Africa and Europe.

He successfully crossed Casablanca in Morocco, navigating the intricate streets of this vibrant city.

From there, he ventured into Spain, traversing through its picturesque towns and breathtaking landscapes.

Throughout his expedition, Musau relied on his customised Land Rover, a trusty companion that carried him through deserts, mountains, and bustling city streets.

It became a symbol of his resilience and determination, attracting attention and curiosity wherever he went.

However, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges.

Musau openly shared the financial strain he faced, draining his coffers in pursuit of his dream.

“This solo exploration hasn’t been easy, my pockets are empty but my heart is full,” he stated.

In a heartfelt appeal to his fellow Kenyans online, he called for financial assistance, hoping to fly the Kenyan flag proudly abroad.

Beyond the personal hurdles, Musau has encountered countless moments of wonder and connection.

He has immersed himself in the local cultures, finding joy in the party scenes of Mauritania and forging friendships with fellow overlanders from the Netherlands.

These encounters and experiences have enriched his journey, painting a vivid tapestry of humanity’s diversity.

Musau’s expedition is not merely a personal endeavor but an inspiration for others to follow their dreams and push their boundaries.

He advises aspiring motorists to commit to more than 20 hours of relentless driving daily.

“I think it’s an extreme adventure. But fun I think. If you decide to ride the whole journey, it will be 20hrs+ (night and day). Seated and sleeping on iron ore.”

“You may need hours of repeated shower over some days to get clean,” he stated.

While the journey may be extreme, he believes it is a thrilling adventure that rewards those who dare to embark on it.

As Musau nears his final destination in Portugal, he expresses his wish to continue his journey to other parts of Europe before eventually returning to Nairobi, Kenya.
