Social media platforms and other publications have spread the news of Ngina Kenyatta’s traditional wedding to Alex Mwai. The couple welcomed their first child last year at a city hospital. Several colorful photos of the events have been shared on social media by close family friends and blogger Edgar Obare.
Blogger Dennis Itumbi was among the first social media users to congratulate Ngina.
“Ngina Kenyatta, Congratulations on your traditional wedding. May God fill your journey with blessings, love and importantly grant you a great family,” his tweet read.
Alex Mwai father
Alex Mwai is the son of sports consultant and former manager of Karen country club, Sam Mwai. Sam is described as a hands on manager with a midas touch.
He was the founder CEO of Sports Stadia Management board. He is credited with building the company from scratch to a glorious enterprise. The sports consultant was at Sports Stadia from April 2003 to April 2009 before calling it a day.
He became General Manager of Karen country club in November 2011 and served in this position for more than a decade. Currently, he serves as a sports consultant at Icon Sports Marketing Ltd.
Career and education
According Alex Mwai’s LinkedIn profile, he is an investment director at Hesabu Capital since October 2021.
Prior to this, he worked as:
- Corporate Finance Senior Analyst at Genghis Capital Ltd.
- Senior Associate Transaction Services at PwC from October 2015 to September 2017. Here, he worked on due diligence, valuation and M&A services.
- Board Member at Switch TV Kenya from October 2019 to October 2021.

He was an MBA candidate at IE Business School from September 2017 to July 2018 and worked in the Commercial Development department for Powergen Renewable Energy from October 2019 to December 2020.
Alex is the co-founder of Perkera Advisory, business development and transaction advisory for East African start-ups. He is also alleged to be part of the team investing in electric boda bodas and tuk tuks in Kenya.
He holds a BA from United Kingdom’s Durham University and an MA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
Marriage
Various news report indicate that the investment director married Ngina Kenyatta on Saturday, 18th June 2020.
Their traditional ceremony is said to have been held at a private location in Nairobi attended by friends and family who donned colorful African outfits.
She is named after her paternal grandmother, the matriarch of the Kenyatta family and one of the richest women in Kenya.
She had made very few public appearances with a notable one being when she showed up for the Lewa marathon. Ngina is the director of Kenyatta Trust and the owner of the Green Experience restaurant.
