Mercy Kyalo: An Inside Look At The Manufacturing Company Owned By Betty Kyalo’s Sister

Running a successful business in Kenya is no walk in the park. The bottlenecks notwithstanding, a section of young people are shunning formal employment to set up their own business ventures. This is the case with Mercy Kyalo, who burst into the limelight thanks to her sister Betty Kyalo.

Brief On Mercy Kyalo

Mercy Kyalo is the third born in their family coming after Betty Kyalo and their firstborn brother who chooses to avoid the limelight. Mercy attended Moi Forces Academy Lanet from 2007 to 2010 before proceeding to Daystar University where she graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations, Marketing and Applied Communication.

She began her career in October 2008 at The New Identity Company-arts department. She went on to join Printyfast K limited in 2013 as a marketing and Public Relations Personnel and later as a Marketing Manager at buysky.co.ke.

In November 2014, she joined the Postal Corporation of Kenya as a public relations officer, a position she held until February 2015.

A month later she joined Transcend Media Group as an account manager and later she on Batian Crest Holdings as the Marketing Director, positions she holds to date.

In October 2015 she decided to try her hand in the business world hence the birth of Yallo Leather Limited.

Yallo Leather Limited is a manufacturing company that designs and produces quality and affordable leather products.

The company’s products are designed to serve a growing population of passionate, vibrant and focused professionals. Since its inception, the company has steadily evolved from a leather bags production workshop into a leather goods design and production house.

It makes sure that it develops its products to meet the market trends and current demands with a mission of ensuring that every product they produce achieves a design and performance balance.

Some of the products developed by Yallo Leather include laptop bags, travel bags, side bags, iPad and tablet covers among many others. The company was established in 2015 as Batian Company Limited and has rebranded twice.

It was officially registered in 2017 and the management maintains the original idea which is to source, build and sell in Kenya first before exporting to the world.

The people behind the company

Yallo Leather Limited is a private limited liability company with equity held by the founders.

The leadership of the team comprises of Mercy Kyalo, who is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kelvin Waweru who is the co-founder and chief operations officer (COO), Esther Munyiva who is the general manager and Lindah Mueni who is the manager in charge of customer experience.
