Popular Children of Kenyan Politicians And Where They Went to School

Kenyan politicians are ranked among the wealthiest people in Kenya. Their hefty salaries and perks make it possible for a majority of them to lead a life many can only but dream of.

Well, it is the desire of each and every parent for their children to have the best education possible, and for politicians in Kenya, this is just but a simple task.

In this article, WoK takes a look at some of the schools, children of Kenya’s politicians attended.

1.Nick Ruto

Lawyer Nick Ruto is the eldest son of Deputy President William Ruto and Mama Rachel Ruto.

Though a number of politicians in the country effort to keep their families away from the public eye, Nick is not afraid of spending time at popular Nairobi joints or speaking his mind.

DP Ruto is famed for being among the few politicians that have educated all their children in Kenya.
The 30-year-old is a budding, young lawyer after graduating from the Catholic University Of Eastern Africa (CUEA) where he pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Law.

He was among 223 graduands admitted to the bar as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya in 2018 by former Chief Justice David Maraga.

His name was gazetted as an advocate in Kenya in December 2017.

2. Ngina Kenyatta

She is the daughter of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ngina proceeded to the prestigious Hilton College in South Africa immediately after completing her high school studies.

She was an active student and graduated with a degree in international relations and politics. She was part of a group of students who sang “Lift Your Hearts Up”.

She currently serves as a director at The Kenyatta Trust, offering mentorship and education to disadvantaged youth.

3. Alvin Kabogo

Alvin Kabogo is the last-born son of former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo. He is known to many for his flashy lifestyle and is considered one of the “rich kids” in the country.

Being a son to one of the wealthiest individuals in the country, Alvin was bound to be educated in some of the best schools locally and internationally.

Alvin attended the University of Brighton and graduated in 2016 with a BSc Hons in Business with Marketing. He also attended the University of Westminster, where he also graduated with a degree in a marketing-related course.

He later attended the University of London where he graduated on November 25, 2019, with a Master’s degree in Marketing Management.

4. Zachary Saitoti

Zachary Saitoti is the son of the late former Cabinet Minister and Vice President George Saitoti.

According to his LinkedIn page, he is the Lead Photographer, Graphic Designer & Image Retoucher at Shifteye Limited, a company he founded in 2009.

Zachary attended Kenton College between 1994 and 1996, before proceeding to join The King’s School, Canterbury, where he studied until 2001.

He had a one-year stint at Seaford College, and later attended the University of the West of England from 2003 to 2006. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.

Zachary returned to the institution between 2006 to 2009, this time around, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in photography.

5. Rosemary Odinga

Rosemary Odinga is the eldest daughter and second child of ODM Leader Raila Odinga and Mama Ida Odinga.

Rosemary began her education at the Kilimani Junior Academy where her late brother Fidel also attended at the time.

The 44 year-old attended Consolata Primary School in Westlands Nairobi.

After high school, Rosemary moved to the United States where she worked and studied for a decade.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Howard University and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Dallas.

6. Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita is the daughter of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o.

She is an internationally acclaimed actress and the first Kenyan to win an Oscar for her role in the movie ’12 years a slave’.

Lupita attended the Rusinga International School for her primary education then later proceeded to St. Mary’s School.

She holds a Master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama.

Lupita has featured in a number of blockbuster movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Jungle Book, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Black Panther.

7. Klein Kalonzo

Klein Kalonzo is the youngest son of Wiper-Kenya leader and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principal Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

Klein graduated from the University of Nairobi in December 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.

8. Davidson Murathe

Davidson Wakairu Gatuhi, is former Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe’s son.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Advertising from Marbella International University Centre in Spain.

9. Saumu Mbuvi

She is a daughter to former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

Saumu attended the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Karen Campus. She was active in student politics while at the school.

It is, however, unknown what course she pursued while at the institution.
