Ngina Kenyatta is the only daughter of former Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta. Coming from a wealthy and influential family that has produced two presidents, she had the privilege of pretty much trying out anything she wanted regardless of the monetary implications.
Away from the multi-billion business empire owned by the family, she decided to chart her own path in the business world by joining the hospitality industry.
In this article, WoK takes you inside Ngina Kenyatta’s posh restaurant named ‘The Green Experience.’
The Green Experience Restaurant
The Green Experience restaurant is a multimillion hotel located in the family’s tea estate in Lari, Kiambu County. The restaurant sits where Uhuru called home in the early 80s. The ambiance and breathtaking views of the green tea estate is simply out of this world.
Meals are well-prepared by the highly trained chefs and served by the ever-smiling and charming waitresses.

The place is perfect for individuals who are seeking to get away from the hustles and bustles of the city and just enjoy a cool and relaxing quality time.
Apart from the amazing and delicious foods, clients can take a guided nature walk at the huge tea estate and learn more about cultivation and production of tea in the country.
Launching the restaurant
The restaurant was launched on 5th May 2018 in a private ceremony held at the backyard of the hotel. The event was attended by close family members and friends. Some of the people who attended the event include Musician Kavi Pratt and Nana Gacega who are both Ngina’s first cousins.
The announcement that the restaurant was up and running was made by Nana Gacega who is ex-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) after she took to twitter to praise the it.
“So Yesterday I got to be part of #TheGreenExperience which is an afternoon spent at the breathtaking location where you are first educated and able to sample all the special varieties of teas now being grown in Kenya…then treated to a 5 course meal. The food is prepared by one of Kenya’s newest and hottest chefs and the host who again looks after you is one of Kenya’s latest architectural designers who has not held back on attention to details and your surroundings,” the lengthy twitter post read.
Reports of Closure
According to reliable sources who visited the hotel recently, the hotel is temporarily closed down pending renovations.
It is expected to be upgraded into an even modern and world class facility that will attract international visitors. The hotel will only admit clients who book beforehand.
