Cross dressing has become very popular in the past few years. While women have worn trousers for the longest time, rarely have men won dresses, crop tops, skirts, lipstick and the works.

In the spirit of arts, and the freedom to wear what one feels comfortable in, most men have begun wearing the above mentioned items. Some wear it because it feels comfortable or looks good-while others do it while acting or portraying certain characters online. The question of their sexual orientation has also cropped up.

Below are the most influential cross dressers in Kenya as told by WoK

Eric Omondi 

Having gained fame and popularity on the Churchill show, Eric went on to create his own brand. He has also worked with a number of brands, the most famous one being OLX. Today, he is still considered one of the top comedian in the country and has amassed millions of followers on social media. At times, he cross-dresses when performing some of his funny comedy skits.

Peter Nyong’o

Peter Nyong’o is the son of Kisumu county governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and the brother to award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. He grabbed the headlines more than once for dressing in what is considered women’s clothes. In 2018, he stepped out in a maxi dress during the Blankets and Wines Festivals and was later featured in a photoshoot wearing a thong and matching heels. 

Flaqo Raz 

Flaqo is one of the most famous online comedians. He dresses like a woman when portraying the character of Mama Otis on his comedy skits. Mama Otis portrays a typical African woman and her harshness. Despite the many roles he plays, most of his fans relate to and love the Mama Otis character. 

Kevin Kinuthia 

With a great sense of fashion and complimenting wigs, it is easy to pass Kinuthia off as a pretty woman. He has made a name for himself and has a huge following on Tik Tok. The cross dresser has great taste in clothes and makeup and has often be mistaken for g@y. However, in an interview, he refuted gay claims and said that was a character he had adopted for online content.

Terrence Creative 

Terrence Creative has consistently created comedy for a number of years. He worked behind the scenes at the Churchill Show before building his brand. While his most watched videos involve wash wash, what gathered him huge traction was his Kamami character. In the act, he dressed like a woman with a dera and make up and would often imitate women’s conversations.

Crazy Kennar 

Crazy Kennar, real name Kennedy Odhiambo, is by the best comedian currently in Kenya.  He has at times dressed like a woman while portraying certain characters. 

George Kagwe 

George Kagwe’s skits attracted a lot of attention a while back. He would imitate Mpesa ladies and would put on exaggerated makeup which included very large eyebrows. He would also dress like a woman with his signature Maasai Shuka. 

Chimano 

Chimano is famously known for his participation in the biggest boy band in the country, Sauti Sol. He has been hailed as a great musician with impeccable talent. In some of his pictures, he can be seen rocking what many would call ladies attires including nail polish and makeup. 

Dennis Karuri 

Dennis Karuri is one of the best makeup artists in the industry. He started out as a model before gaining interest in makeup application. He has done makeup for some of the biggest celebrities and is known for his unique makeup styles. Dennis can often be spotted wearing makeup and a number of clothes associated with women.

Shaniqwa 

The funnyman became famous after participating on KTN’s show Jameni. This gained him a lot of popularity and later he would host KTN Life and Style alongside Mary Mwikali. Shaniqwa, real name ​​Kelvin Mwangi, dresses like a woman with colorful makeup and a wig to match in his shows.
