Content creator Abel Mutua and his wife Judy Nyawira were recently featured in an episode of the Joy Ride Podcast hosted by Ben Cyco and Wanjiru Njiru.
Speaking during a Q & A session, Abel disclosed how they made poor financial choices.
He said that until two years ago when they realized their mistakes, they made millions but could not account how they spent it.
Abel started working for Citizen TV as a scriptwriter and an actor on Tahidi High while still a student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
“We have fumbled with finances for a decade, we can’t lie about that. We got financial literacy in 2020. That was the first time I managed to save my first salary
“The worst bit is that I can’t sit here and lie that we never used to make money, we made money,” he confessed.
The actor said he spent most of his money on helping friends.
“One problem that we had was the Messianic complex where you feel like you want to save everyone. You get like KSh 200k and in less than three weeks, it is finished,” Abel added.
The couple had to go through a short course to get their finances in check.
In other news, former Tahidi High actor Dennis Mugo, alias OJ disclosed how his addiction to alcohol messed his career and cost him his marriage.
Speaking in a previous interview, the actor disclosed how his wife walked out of their marriage a few years ago due to his alcoholism.
OJ narrated how his fall from being a TV star to a nobody left him drained and he decided to seek solace in drinking and smoking.
“I was a celeb. Celeb big fish. The celebrity title got into my head. Now you can imagine you are an alcoholic, you are a celebrity when you walk in town everyone knows you but it came and went. As fast as it came as fast as it left. But as soon as it went, I went into a downwards spiral
“Then I went into drinking, at that time I had my son Ethan, Baby Mama. Back then, she was my wife but she left me due to my alcoholic nature,” he said.
OJ looked back at his old friends who are already making millions saying that he is not close to their level even though he made his first million before them.
“While my friends have accomplished a million things, I was still struggling to get to that point. We complain a lot about in society but we forget about ourselves,” he added.
