Ken Owuor, like many other Kenyans hoped to secure a well paying job and succeed soon after graduating. However, his dreams stalled as he failed to secure a job in his field and ended up working as a watchman. His former schoolmates came to his aid and today he runs a successful security company.

Education background

He was a student at the premier Starehe Boys’ Centre and went on to graduate with a Bachelor Degree in communication from The University of Nairobi.

The Job Search

Getting a job after graduation was not as easy as he had anticipated. He went to an extent of pleading for an internship position where he could put in his skills and knowledge.

The entrepeneur managed to land a job as a security guard, a job he thought he could never do. Two years later, his life took a turn for the better.

Getting Help and Succeeding

Ken Owuor is now the director at Squad Three Security. His former High School  friends; Isaiah, James and Kelvin helped him open a security company. The trio bought him motorcycles and a patrol car.

In an article posted by Tuko, he said most of his business comes from referrals by Starehe Boys alumni and members of the public who have faith in him. Kelvin, his friend is an advocate of the High Court who decided to offer pro bono services to ensure his company is registered.

He marketed his business within Narok, Kisumu, Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, HomaBay and other towns.

His company provides services such as guarding services, CCTV installations, electric fences, alarm monitoring, private investigations and biometric security systems.

He is targeting a have employed a total of five hundred security guards at the end of 2024.

Ken has experienced a great alteration from a security guard to a CEO. He is very grateful to his friends who helped him when he was at his lowest. He is happy that he is now an employer giving livelihoods to the families of his staff.
