Driven by an interest in real estate and land management, he enrolled at the University of Nairobi, where he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Land Economics.

He recalled in an interview with Business Daily, “We started with one restaurant, then another, and a discotheque, which we refurbished yearly.”

As fate would have it, a call from a dear friend presented a new opportunity—one that aligned with his passion and expertise. Sam Mwai was invited to become the CEO of Maiyan Luxury Resort in Nanyuki.
He shared, “When my friend James Mworia called me… I told him, ‘James, I’m retired.'” However, he eagerly stepped back into the corporate world, but this time at his own pace.
