Human interest stories require a level of empathy that only female presenters can muster without sounding unprofessional. Presenting stories of various kinds requires a great deal of expertise. A presenter must establish a good rapport with the guests invited to their show. Kenya is home to talented and inspirational female show hosts who have built a massive audience. This article takes a look at the top female presenters in Kenya. 

Lynn Ngugi

Lynn Ngugi is a household name in Kenya and beyond. She used to host the immensely popular show “Tuko Talks” on YouTube before she called it a day to start her own Show, ‘LynnNgugiShow’. Lynn has done an incredible job of hosting guests on her show with stories ranging from the deeply emotional ones to those that inspire so many. She relates so well with her guests, whether they are celebrities, inspirational speakers or people who have undergone or are still undergoing very painful situations in life. 

The empathy, humor, joy or wisdom she displays depending on the story being featured on the show has endeared her to thousands of people who watched Tuko on YouTube and now her own show. Lynn has taught us one critical lesson: you don’t have to dress provocatively to woo viewers.

Amina Abdi Rabar has conquered the radio airwaves and is doing the same on our TV screens. She began her career on Homeboyz Radio. Today, she hosts the famous NTV show dubbed The Trend. She began hosting it when the previous host Larry Madowo left in 2018 to join BBC and has been doing an amazing job since then. Since taking over The Trend she has featured and interviewed some big names in the Kenyan entertainment industry and the way she interacts with them is a work of art.

Currently, she hosts the morning show at Kiss 100 dubbed Kamene Jalas. She hosts the show alongside radio king and comedian Jalang’o and the two come up with interesting topics to keep their audience tuned in.

Graceful, soft spoken and beautiful are the first things that come to mind whenever you see Grace Msalame. She is a talented TV host currently working at NTV where she hosts the show Unscripted with Grace. In the show, she interviews people who have gone through very difficult situations and managed to see light at the end of the tunnel. The stories she features are very inspirational and emotional. This is a show that inspires and gives hopes that no matter how dire the situation is, it won’t remain the same.

Grace has a way of relating to the guests. She lets them tell their story with just a few promptings here and there to encourage them.
